Slam ball 101 with Coach Erik Esik Melland and Aaron Cruz is a program created for slam ball training to drive adaptation and challenge the central nervous system. When used correctly this tool can help you prime all areas of the body, develop rotational explosiveness, and boost athletic performance.

This program is an introduction on how to train with the slam ball using TACFIT principles. You will learn functional exercises, workouts, and training protocols that engage major muscle groups— legs, glutes, chest, back, and shoulders while developing core strength. You’ll also work on simple movement patterns that are essential for everyday activities such as squats, lunges, hinge, push, pull, rotate and more.

Slam ball training is about purpose and transfer — not just mindless lifting or tossing. In this program we go over specific exercises and workouts that target core strength and athletic performance. By learning these exercises and how to perform them with proper technique you will develop a solid core, increased endurance, and explosive power and speed.

Once you’ve finished the program you’ll be able to incorporate the workouts into your fitness routine to maximize your performance.

To help you get started we’ve created follow along videos and a 14-day training program that you can incorporate into your workout routine and used year round. It can also be used for warm-ups and on recovery days.

Program History

Back in the 1990s, Scott Sonnon pioneered full-circle fitness programs and protocols for greater mobility, faster recovery, lasting restoration and vastly increased movement. While his intent was to create a more integrated mind-body fitness approach for the demands required of elite athletes and military personnel, Sonnon actually introduced the world to a whole new form of freedom and flow.

In more recent years, an entire industry caught on and followed TACFIT’s lead with a focus on what truly matters, the ultimate intended goal of physical exercise: Does your fitness increase your flow in life?

These aren’t fluffy, ephemeral concepts, but a “hard science” of the peak performance state, historically restricted to elite-level sports competition. Due to TACFIT Founder Sonnon’s background as a multiple time USA National Team Coach, coupled with his lessons learned from overcoming the hurdles of his physical and learning difficulties as a child, he developed a system founded on vetted, concrete sciences so that everyone could access this phenomenon on a daily basis.
